CRS

What is CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme)?

The Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) is a certification program introduced by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for electronics and IT products. Under CRS, manufacturers must register their products with BIS and ensure they meet the relevant Indian Standards (IS) before they can be sold in India.

Key Features of CRS

  • Mandatory for a wide range of electronics and IT products.

  • Requires product testing in a BIS-recognized laboratory.

  • Manufacturers receive a BIS Registration Number for compliant products.

  • No factory audit is required—making it simpler than ISI/FMCS certification.

Who Needs CRS?

Both Indian and foreign manufacturers producing electronics and IT goods like LED lights, mobile phones, adapters, batteries, laptops, smart TVs, and more, must obtain CRS registration to market their products in India.
